Market report: You said my home is worth how much?

People still regularly approach me with concern in their eyes and ask, “How is the real estate market doing?” Well, I have a secret that nobody seems to be talking about. Real estate is doing great. In fact, home prices have completely recovered to peak values just before the crash.

What does that mean for homeowners? You might be surprised at how much your Utah County home is worth. And you might be surprised at how much equity you have that you could roll over into a new home.

Quick Stats

That might sound like a sales pitch, but it’s not. Here’s the data from the Wasatch Front MLS:

  • Home prices are up 29% from 3 years ago
    • That means for the typical Utah County homeowner, their home is worth $51,000 more than it was 3 years ago.
  • Home prices are up 6% from 1 year ago
    • That means for the typical Utah County homeowner, their home is worth $6,000 more than it was 1 year ago.
  • “For Sale” inventory is low.
  • I have home buyers looking for your home!

Home Sales 1.7.15 Price

So yes, the real estate market in Utah crashed right along with the rest of the country. But with home prices fully recovered, and with homes for sale inventory way down, it is a seller’s market. And if you are looking to step-up, with interest rates at ridiculously low rates, it is a fantastic time to make the move.
